Title Design Research: Comedy

How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?

I decided to do it in Doctor Strangelove. There were 7 titles 6 of them being the names of cast and crew and 1 being the title of the movie.

What connotations do the images carry? (how do they make you feel).

They make you feel confused and uncomfortable, with such a eerie monologue that has nothing to do with what your watching. The pencil based title font reassured you that this is not serious.

How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you tell what genre the film is)

The Genres that define it which is war and comedy technically are shown with the silly title font which shows the comedy of this movie, the other thing is the showing of the bomber planes in a close up and uncomfortable close shot show this is a war movie.

What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

The discretion that happens before the movie begins alongside the silly title fonts and monolouge about history intend that this movie will be watched by their target audience.
