Super hero research blog


The next genre of movies I would like to look at is super hero movies. This is a genre that has recently come into its own. With record numbers at the box office with movies like avengers infinity war, spider man no way home, and black panther. The camera angles in the intros to these type of movies are normally just medium shots the entire way through. The ways in which they change is the editing as they jump cut through different scenes. When it does this it does this in 1 of three ways. The first way super hero movies do it is by showing the origin of a certain hero through comic pages. In recent we saw this in the dc cinematic universe and it’s normally done when the heroes have an established comic origin. The second way is by having the editing go to mostly quick cuts through out scenes within the movie or in more impressive examples such as the X-men from 2003 which follows the camera throughout a battlefield in the movie. Though that can be considered more of a war movie. The last way they do it is by using comic book panels to explain an earlier movie in a movie series. The advantages to doing this are it is very easy to implant the credits into it. The disadvantages are it is very hard to do. Especially without animating it.

The Movie Lord of War is one of my favorite Movies ever definitely my favorite war movie. When it comes to Nicholas Cage this is some of his best work and shows how he really can be an amazing actor. Even though as of recent he hasn't been in stride. It scored a 6/10 with average film critics and a 9/10 average with moviegoers. Common CAMS in the movie A lot of the shots in this movie are very uncomfortable it makes you feel weird and bad about what your seeing. Which is a very interesting way to film a movie. This is best seen with its opening sequence life of a bullet in which you take a pov of a bullet as its created and shipped out before it is used to kill a child solider. Common CLAMPS in the movie  The lighting in the movie is all digetic, due to the movie not wanting to seem fake. Editting and whatever rhymes with editing (Editing Blog)

 Today I began the long arduous process of editing. To begin, I had to fix one scene. Initially, I had tried to film the scene in darkness, however, that didn't work out so well. So, to solve this issue, I had decided to try to film in light and then just make it darker in post. While it ended up working out, it definitely took away from the scene a little bit. It is still somewhat noticeable that the scene takes place in bright light, but hopefully, that can be fixed with some more editing. However, this may simply be noticeable to me as the editor and not as noticeable to those seeing it for the first time. But for now, it is serviceable. Past that I began the work of darkening up the extra scenes. Through this, I had learned that I had gone almost exactly on time instead of over or under time with the recording. Production blog #3

 Today I began filming. We went out to the beach and unfortunately it began raining. So I had to go back into the car and wait for about 2 hours. Once we got out the sand was still wet . We set up the green army men and everything seemed in order. Then we started filming and learned unfortunately that pop it's will not actually explode on wet sand. This made it almost impossible for the pop its to explode. So then we had to deal with that problem. We took a slab of rock and put it under the sand so the pop it's would have more force. No dice still wasn't working. So then we decided to try to just do it on stone. Then realized the pop its actually got wet not allowing them to explode. So then we hiked it to Walmart to get more of them. We got there got out of the car. Went into the store. Looked around. Only to see that they were out of the Pop it's.
