Aice Media studies

 Hello, my name is Christian Smith. Due to my wacky schedule, I will have to work alone. It's unfortunate because I would love to work with other people since it makes life easier. Though my life is confusing generally since my schedule is more like a dream board. My schedule is all sorts of work and I feel like that would not lend well to a group setting. I am used to working alone and its honestly what im best at. Of course, for filming, I will get help from a friend from outside the class. For now though I will most likely be working alone for the foreseeable future of the class. I also have a problem with joking around too much and not doing work. Similarly, I just think doing it alone allows me to work on my other work in conjunction. Also scheduling with a partner to meet is extremely hard. Also, it provides complications with if they are absent on the day of the project. Past that one hiccup I have is that I wonder if we can use actors outside of the class. Though generally ...

  Hello, my name is Christian Smith and this is my 21st blog post for my blog for Aice Media studies. I mostly took this class because I thought it would be the natural progression from theatre. Similarly I took this class due to wanting to learn how to market and make commercials. Due to me wanting to own a business. It would save money from having to hire a director for commercials and the like. More about me though I am a junior at Fort Lauderdale high school.  I am currently 15.  I think by going through the AS and A level of this class I will legitimately learn a lot about how media works by well of course studying it. In my free time I do wrestling and creative writing.   I also play video games which I find is my most enjoyable past time. The blog has finally finished filming and editing. I can say that I am mostly happy with how it turned out except for a few things. It feels more jarring than intended. Past that the video turned out pretty ok. It’s relieving really to have this weight off my shoulders. Though without further ado. Here’s my video. I hope you like it.

 Today I began the long arduous process of editing. To begin, I had to fix one scene. Initially, I had tried to film the scene in darkness, however, that didn't work out so well. So, to solve this issue, I had decided to try to film in light and then just make it darker in post. While it ended up working out, it definitely took away from the scene a little bit. It is still somewhat noticeable that the scene takes place in bright light, but hopefully, that can be fixed with some more editing. However, this may simply be noticeable to me as the editor and not as noticeable to those seeing it for the first time. But for now, it is serviceable. Past that I began the work of darkening up the extra scenes. Through this, I had learned that I had gone almost exactly on time instead of over or under time with the recording. After that, I began slicing the videos. Slicing the videos in and of itself was a challenge. It took a lot of time and effort. But, I thankfully got it done in the end. ...

 Today I began and finished filming. My friend came over to my house and we got it finished up quickly. Unfortunately, there were interruptions during it so in editing I will have to just mute it in post. Additionally, due to the horrible weather, the lighting did not play as much of a prominent role in filming. Nevertheless, we got it done. Mirror shots were especially hard since due to refraction it requires a very odd angle. Unfortunately, my friend almost fell down working on high angles. Though, overall it was a generally fun and good experience. Generally, some issues in my opinion, in editing, is correctly layering the audio over the mute video. Making the video seem a lot more natural generally fluent by making cuts that don't feel awkward. Slowing down the video so it seems longer. Since I didn't get the full 1 minute + I needed, I should be able to just slow it down and reach the intended time. The video seems a lot worse from the expected outcome, in my opinion. I am...

Today I began the necessary steps to prepare to film. I arranged it with a friend who does not have media studies. He isn't in the class but, he was the only guy who would do it. We decided to film it at his house since it is slightly easier for us to do so. His house also matched my idea for what the location should look like much more than my own. Additionally, I finished work on the book prop. I also had prepared for what times of day I'm gonna have to film. I should be able to start filming this Saturday. The music video editing should be able to be done on Sunday. Past that stuff, I have high hopes for this project. The music video should have some very good cinematography quality. Even though this is my first time doing something like this. Though working on this class has gotten harder and harder as I have to take off focus to work on my other classes.  It's very unfortunate and hopefully, I can get back on track.
