Intro Blog


 Hello, my name is Christian Smith and this is my first blog post for my blog for Aice Media studies.

I mostly took this class because, I thought it would be the natural progression from theatre.

Similarly I took this class due to wanting to learn how to market.

Due to me having to inherit a business.

It would save money from having to hire a director for commercials and the like.
More about me though I am a junior at Fort Lauderdale high school.

 I recently turned 15.

 I think by going through the AS and A level of this class I will legitimately learn a lot about how media works by well of course studying it.

In my free time I do wrestling which I am starting to do starting today actually. 

 I also play video games which I find is my most enjoyable past time.

My current favorite video game is guilty gear strive it is a fighting game with beautiful animation and even more beautiful mechanics.

My favorite class since well basically forever is history I think that I like the non fiction real stories more than I like fiction I find it very very enjoyable hearing what my ancestors did oh so long ago.

My favorite non computer game is dungeons and dragons mostly because, I really like the social aspect and the improv acting practice and the friendly environment it creates.

My other favorite non computer game is chess, there is just something so special about beating a opponent tactically.

My favorite animated movie is Spider Man into the Spider Force.

I love when media is on 2s I think it looks amazing and I legitimately think the "What's up danger" scene is my favorite in all of cinema ever.

My favorite non animated move is doctor strange.

I think the cinematography in that movie is amazing with doctor strange and all of its fights especially in the mirror world is amazing.

My favorite non fiction book I ever read is called console wars and its about the war between Nintendo and Sega in the late 90s amazing read

My favorite fiction book is if it counts the 7th part of JoJo's bizarre adventure just because, I think its one of the only works of fiction where I legitimately loved every character.

My favorite era in history is the ancient Greek era just do to how much new age thinkign happened then and viewing the parallels to modern society

Genre research: Lord of War

The Movie Lord of War is one of my favorite Movies ever definitely my favorite war movie. When it comes to Nicholas Cage this is some of his best work and shows how he really can be an amazing actor. Even though as of recent he hasn't been in stride. It scored a 6/10 with average film critics and a 9/10 average with moviegoers. Common CAMS in the movie A lot of the shots in this movie are very uncomfortable it makes you feel weird and bad about what your seeing. Which is a very interesting way to film a movie. This is best seen with its opening sequence life of a bullet in which you take a pov of a bullet as its created and shipped out before it is used to kill a child solider. Common CLAMPS in the movie  The lighting in the movie is all digetic, due to the movie not wanting to seem fake. Editting and whatever rhymes with editing (Editing Blog)

 Today I began the long arduous process of editing. To begin, I had to fix one scene. Initially, I had tried to film the scene in darkness, however, that didn't work out so well. So, to solve this issue, I had decided to try to film in light and then just make it darker in post. While it ended up working out, it definitely took away from the scene a little bit. It is still somewhat noticeable that the scene takes place in bright light, but hopefully, that can be fixed with some more editing. However, this may simply be noticeable to me as the editor and not as noticeable to those seeing it for the first time. But for now, it is serviceable. Past that I began the work of darkening up the extra scenes. Through this, I had learned that I had gone almost exactly on time instead of over or under time with the recording. Production blog #3

 Today I began filming. We went out to the beach and unfortunately it began raining. So I had to go back into the car and wait for about 2 hours. Once we got out the sand was still wet . We set up the green army men and everything seemed in order. Then we started filming and learned unfortunately that pop it's will not actually explode on wet sand. This made it almost impossible for the pop its to explode. So then we had to deal with that problem. We took a slab of rock and put it under the sand so the pop it's would have more force. No dice still wasn't working. So then we decided to try to just do it on stone. Then realized the pop its actually got wet not allowing them to explode. So then we hiked it to Walmart to get more of them. We got there got out of the car. Went into the store. Looked around. Only to see that they were out of the Pop it's.
