Title Design Research: Action


How many titles are displayed during the opening sequences to the film? Which ones?

The opening in full displays 13 titles 11 of which are for the cast and crew 1 of which is for the production company and one for which is for the producers.

What connotations do the images carry? (how do you they make you feel)

The images make you feel pumped with it’s rock score and the abstract images that move to the beat.

How is genre reinforced through symbolic and technical codes from the outset? (Can you
tell what genre the film is)

The biggest Symbolic and genre defining code is actually the action lines which like bang pow and kazam in comics show off action and give the film its much needed action flair.

What conventions are used to ensure the film appeals to its target audience?

The conventions used are sound and editing the quick cuts between the different images along with the punk rock music set the tone for this movie and set the audience expeditions for what kind of movie this is.

The Movie Lord of War is one of my favorite Movies ever definitely my favorite war movie. When it comes to Nicholas Cage this is some of his best work and shows how he really can be an amazing actor. Even though as of recent he hasn't been in stride. It scored a 6/10 with average film critics and a 9/10 average with moviegoers. Common CAMS in the movie A lot of the shots in this movie are very uncomfortable it makes you feel weird and bad about what your seeing. Which is a very interesting way to film a movie. This is best seen with its opening sequence life of a bullet in which you take a pov of a bullet as its created and shipped out before it is used to kill a child solider. Editting and whatever rhymes with editing (Editing Blog)

 Today I began the long arduous process of editing. To begin, I had to fix one scene. Initially, I had tried to film the scene in darkness, however, that didn't work out so well. So, to solve this issue, I had decided to try to film in light and then just make it darker in post. While it ended up working out, it definitely took away from the scene a little bit. It is still somewhat noticeable that the scene takes place in bright light, but hopefully, that can be fixed with some more editing. However, this may simply be noticeable to me as the editor and not as noticeable to those seeing it for the first time. But for now, it is serviceable. Past that I began the work of darkening up the extra scenes. Through this, I had learned that I had gone almost exactly on time instead of over or under time with the recording. After that, I began slicing the videos. Slicing the videos in and of itself was a challenge. It took a lot of time and effort. But, I thankfully got it done in the end. ...

Production blog #3

 Today I began filming. We went out to the beach and unfortunately it began raining. So I had to go back into the car and wait for about 2 hours. Once we got out the sand was still wet . We set up the green army men and everything seemed in order. Then we started filming and learned unfortunately that pop it's will not actually explode on wet sand. This made it almost impossible for the pop its to explode. So then we had to deal with that problem. We took a slab of rock and put it under the sand so the pop it's would have more force. No dice still wasn't working. So then we decided to try to just do it on stone. Then realized the pop its actually got wet not allowing them to explode. So then we hiked it to Walmart to get more of them. We got there got out of the car. Went into the store. Looked around. Only to see that they were out of the Pop it's.
